Questions Patients Frequently Ask Concerning Endoscopic Procedures

Q. May my friend or family member stay with me during my procedure?

A. Family members are not allowed in the procedure area. We will be happy to contact a family member at the completion of the procedure.

Q. Will I be completely asleep?

A. We administer intravenous sedatives for endoscopic procedures. This is called "twilight sleep" or moderate sedation. Moderate sedation may mean some degree of awareness though the procedure is generally quite comfortable.

Q. How long will the procedure take?

A. Although individual procedures may be longer or shorter, most patients should expect to be in the facility for 2 hours. This allows for recovery from the sedative during which time patients are monitored closely.

Please feel free to ask our staff members any questions you might have. We welcome any comments or suggestions which will allow us to serve you better.
